Bright Lights in West End

‘Bright Lights’, one of the songs from my show ‘Moving On’, which was developed and performed in 2010 at the Lowry Theatre, Manchester, has been selected as a finalist for the 2011 Stiles & Drewe Best Song Prize.

The song will be performed in the West End at the Queen’s Theatre on May 22 2011 by Kim Anderson who will also be competing with it in the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer Prize.

The event starts at 15.00 and the judging panel includes Kerry Ellis, Haydn Gwynne, Edward Seckerson, Julia McKenzie, and Stiles & Drewe (currently enjoying success in the West End with their new musical Betty Blue Eyes).

Now And Then – Songs Performance

Although still in writing development, three completed songs from ‘Now And Then’ will be recieving their first public performance on March 17th 2011.

‘In My Arms’, ‘Here’ and ‘A Moment’ will be performed as part of Iris Theatre’s new musical theatre showcase night at St Paul’s Church, Covent Garden. Performance starts at 19.30 and tickets are just £7 - available here.

OK so here are the top 3 singles and albums which have been delighting my ipod for the last year…

1. One Touch – Mini Viva (Pure pop rush. Such a shame there’ll be no album)
2. Wonderful Life – Hurts (Pure pop class. Exhilarating gloom)
3. Rude Boy – Rihanna (Pure pop hook. Insanely infectious nonsense)

Honourable mention: All I Want For Christmas Is New Year’s Day – Hurts (Should have become an instant new Christmas classic).

‘Moving On’ will be recieving it’s first public performances, following initial development work, as part of the MMD/Arts Council ‘Sounds of England’ series. Performances will be taking place at the Lowry Theatre, Manchester on Mon 30 and Tue 30 August 2010.
